Iran Association of Science Parks and Innovation Organizations of Iran held an International Experience-sharing Workshop on the topic of "The Role of Science and Technology Parks in the Development of the Innovation Ecosystem and Future Management Approaches for These Organizations (Experience from Germany)."

This virtual workshop was held on March 4, 2025, with the participation of more than 90 attendees. The webinar featured a keynote speech by Mr. André H.R. Domin, Chairman of Heidelberg Science Park, Germany, and former board member of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP). As a distinguished expert in the field of science and technology park management, Mr. Domin shared valuable insights and experiences.

At the beginning of the workshop, emphasis was placed on the crucial role of physical spaces in the development and growth of science and technology parks. Using Heidelberg Science Park as an example, the significance of these spaces as hubs for interaction, idea exchange, and synergy among innovation ecosystem stakeholders was discussed. It was also highlighted that despite significant advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), physical spaces should remain a core pillar of the innovation ecosystem.

The discussion then shifted to the role of science and technology parks as catalysts for innovation ecosystems. These parks facilitate collaboration among industries, universities, and government institutions, creating an optimal environment for knowledge and technology exchange. Another key topic was the importance of interactions and connectivity between different elements of the innovation ecosystem, including cities, legal institutions, investors, universities, and especially individual innovators.

Additionally, the workshop addressed the evaluation of science and technology parks and the relationship between key stakeholders such as municipalities, governments, and science parks. In the final part of the session, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping the future of science and technology parks was explored, emphasizing its growing significance.

The workshop concluded with an engaging Q&A session and constructive discussions between participants and Mr. André Domin. This session provided a valuable opportunity to gain international insights into science and technology parks and explore future opportunities in this field.
